“Irrevocable Designee”: What’s with the name?
Irrevocable Designee is a legal term found within La. RS 47:6007 that allows a motion picture production company to name a “bank or other lender” as its designated recipient of the tax credits the production earned by spending money in the state of Louisiana. While often overlooked as a simple and valuable way to reduce income tax liability, by law, Louisiana Economic Development can issue certified tax credits (based on spending verified by a state-selected, third-party independent auditor) earned by a production company directly to the irrevocable designee named by that production company.
